Alevtyna Shuhai is a Ukrainian-Canadian visual artist and art educator based in Calgary, Alberta. Originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine, she holds a degree in Art and Art Education and has more than 12 years of experience teaching visual arts.
Working in watercolor, acrylic, and oil, Alevtyna explores landscape, light, colour, and atmosphere. Her work is inspired by the natural world and by the emotional experience of a place — from quiet, fleeting moments to the dramatic landscapes of Alberta and the Canadian Rockies.
Her Ukrainian background remains an important part of her artistic identity, while life in Canada continues to bring new subjects, impressions, and ways of seeing.
Alongside her own artistic practice, Alevtyna is the founder of Shuhai Art Studio in Calgary, where she shares her experience and love of painting with adults and young artists.
